WHAT TO EXPECT
INSPIRED BY YOUR MUSIC PREFERENCE
We always ask the student what kind of music they like. We tailor each student's music journey to include as much of their favourite styles as possible. We currently have students learning video game themes, Harry Potter and The Beatles.
PROFESSIONAL MUSIC STUDIO
We take advantage of all the professional studio equipment to teach musical concepts. Students in the Producing lessons use all the same pro software and hardware to record their songs as Tim (founder of Kanata School of Music) does for his business. You will see our other students regularly using the drum set, bongos or microphones in their lessons.
PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS
We always make sure to connect with parents to understand our students. We discuss learning styles, challenges and interests. We offer regular progress reports as well!
CHILD-LED APPROACH
We are inspired by the child-led educational approach and apply it to our music instruction. Students' interests influence how long they spend on a particular skill and the methods and materials used to learn it. All students walk away with a solid musical foundation on their instrument, but the way they get there is unique to each student. We do not use a one-size-fits-all approach.
The pressure-free environment means the students aren't forced into a new skill before they are ready. There is time for laughter, listening and positive vibes during a lesson. We take the time to get to know the student and it helps us guide their journey.
